Pick one skill
Use your recent games to find a repeat problem.
Practise it
Try one clear change in your next few matches.
Check again
Compare the stats and the match replay, not just the final score.
01 / Find the pattern
Start with three to five recent games
Think back to the last few matches you lost. Were you struggling to make chances, missing good chances, or letting opponents shoot too easily? Pick the problem that keeps coming back. One strange game is not enough to tell you much.
Look at both teams' shots and expected goals (xG). If you recorded more stats, check shot accuracy, pass accuracy, tackles won, and defensive line breaks too. Compare your wins with your losses. A difference is a clue to test, not proof that it caused the result.
How to save your match stats02 / Attack
Make better chances before you chase more shots
Lots of shots can still mean weak chances. Divide your xG by your shots to get a rough view of chance quality. Compare it with your own earlier games, using matches with both numbers recorded. It is a guide, not a target score you must hit.
| What you see | Try next game |
|---|---|
| Many shots, low xG per shot | Skip tight-angle shots. In the box, look for a square pass or a touch to open the angle. Check if xG per shot rises. |
| Few shots and low xG | Replay two attacks that ended before a shot. Next game, move the ball to a free player and look for a run into the box. Track shots and xG. |
| Good xG, few goals | Repeat one shot from different angles in Practice Arena. In your next matches, focus on aim and power; compare goals with xG across several games. |
EA's shooting guide shows how to use the Practice Arena. Try the same shot from different angles and change one thing at a time: aim, power, or shot type. Then take that skill back into a match.
03 / Defend
Stop giving away easy chances
Compare your opponent's stats in wins and losses. The numbers show the problem; a replay helps you find the move behind it.
| What you see | Try next game |
|---|---|
| Opponent xG is high from few shots | Replay their clearest chance. Switch to a defender who can block the final pass and stay between the attacker and goal. Check their xG and shots again after a few games. |
| Opponent shots rise in your losses | Check the first two shots you conceded. If they came after you lost the ball, keep a midfielder behind your attack. Compare shots allowed next time. |
| More tackles, fewer won | Stop diving in. Jockey to slow the attacker and tackle after a heavy touch. See if your tackle success rate improves. |
EA's FC 27 gameplay notes explain why switching, positioning, and tackle timing matter.
04 / Keep the ball
Give your next pass a job
Pass accuracy is a clue. Watch a lost ball in the replay before you decide what to change.
| What you see | Try next game |
|---|---|
| Pass accuracy drops in losses | Replay three lost passes. When the forward lane is closed, pass to the free player and try forward after the defender moves. Check both pass accuracy and shots. |
| Lots of possession, few shots | Pass to move the defence, then look for a teammate running into space. Track shots as well as possession so you know if the ball reached dangerous areas. |
| Pass accuracy is fine, but opponent shots rise | Watch two turnovers near midfield. Before a risky pass, keep a safe outlet behind the ball. See if you allow fewer shots next game. |
05 / Review
Run a simple Weekend League improvement loop
- Save each score and the stats you can read after the match.
- After a loss, write down one moment you remember. Check the replay if you can.
- Compare your wins and losses. If you want a second opinion, request a Match Insight: the AI reads the saved numbers and highlights likely reasons for the result. The app shows the token cost before you generate it.
- Choose one action for the next three games, such as waiting for a clearer shot or jockeying before you tackle.
- Check whether the relevant stat and the gameplay moment changed. Keep the habit if it helps; try another idea if it does not.
06 / Longer view
Compare your Weekend League runs fairly
Use completed runs from the same EA FC edition. Check the number of games, wins, goals, and match length. Only compare xG when both runs have it recorded.
Your best run shows what worked. Compare it with other runs to choose what to practise next.
07 / Real example
From 7 wins to an 11-win Weekend League
This is the UT Champs founder's own FC 26 history. The first run and the best run each had 15 matches.
| Result | First | Best |
|---|---|---|
| Record | 7 wins, 8 losses | 11 wins, 4 losses |
| Goals scored | 41 | 76 |
| Goals conceded | 45 | 55 |
| Average match length | 61 min | 76 min |
That is four more wins. The attack scored more, but the defence also conceded more. Matches lasted longer in the 11-win run, so goal totals alone do not tell the whole story.
Both run reviews flagged patient, possession-heavy opponents as a problem. A useful next test is to protect the middle, then check if those opponents get fewer easy shots.
